Extreme Sports athletes are some of the most fearless, some might say crazy, humans on earth. They are driven by pure adrenaline, and the fact they they’re risking life and limb on a daily basis only seems to fuel their fire. The unrelenting pursuit of progression leads these athletes to push the boundaries and test the limits of what’s possible, sometimes resulting in serious or fatal accidents. But you can only have ONE TRUE badass of the bunch and Krush set out to find who that is.

  1. Definitely give props to all athletes, but I have to agree that moto-x are the toughest as well. Not only do they get sick speed & height, but also they’re slinging around a 200+ pound machine.

    • Have to respectfully disagree w/ you on that one. We included this as reminder that many top athletes have lost their lives training & competing…reality is this IS dangerous stuff. Sorry if you don’t like the design or hat tip to them.

  2. Agree on the freeskiing position! Our conclusion: a lack of data out there! No one is tracking Freeskiing as a separate area from Alpine Skiing, and the risks are killer for sure.

  3. Snowboarding=freeskiing. Theres no way freeskiing could be last if snowboarding is #3. Did they take urban. Most of the pros in riding urban or big mountain finish their seasons with broken bones or blown knees. Your data sucks.

    • Liam, thanks for stopping by. Definitely see your point & understand your frustration. Freeskiers are certainly tough/crazy mofos (the ones that I know anyway). I think the main issue here is that currently there isn’t the volume of “reported” injury data in freeskiing like there is in other sports we analyzed (hence our inclusion of the “Prediction” that freeskiing injury numbers will rise in the near future).

  4. I don’t agree that Freeskiing is the last. You can’t really make statistics of the toughest sport based on how many people die/ get injuries. Snowboard and Skiing are quite parallel. If anything i would interpret the statistics to be that skiiers are the most profs for not getting injured/dying.

    Dying/Injuried =/= Toughest sport.

  5. Fatalities… 3 skiers = Biggest Pussies. Poor article. I can list my injuries from the past 10 years that were never recorded, but going to the hospital is what wrote this article. AKA the whammmbulance.

    • Haha, I completely agree for not going to the hospital for pathetic injuries, but your an fool for thinking ACL’s, broken ankles or Back injuries will heal by themselves. And don’t be ignorant, those three skiers were some of the gnarliest riders out. On the article as a whole, I agree with FMX and Skating, think skiing should be a little higher but so should BMX.

  6. If you really want to see TOUGH, try riding in rodeo events. As far as tough vs. wuss, I think the snowsports side of things are the SMARTEST. At least they choose a sport where you can land on snow, and usually on a slope, so when they crash it’s more like skipping a rock across a pond rather then landing on something hard and flat and splatting.

  7. This surrvay is totally 100% accurrate. In the summer of 2011 my friend died jumping his dirt bike (R.I.P Bradly .B). I skate and snowboard in the last year and a half I have broken both wrists, both ankels, ribs, a collerbone and had many concushions. I am currently healing a broken shin bone thanks to skateboarding.
Yo skier’s what did you break last year your stupid polls?
